Today's post on Young House Love (a fabulous site by a young married couple in Richmond, brimming with brilliant ideas) made me laugh. The "over or under" debate has long raged in my home, with my husband falling squarely into the "over" category, while I'm a firm believer in Option 3, as pictured above. Our compromise? I try to remember his paper preferences, and he tries not to nag me when I forget. Question of the Week: Which household task (no matter how trivial) do you and your husband not quite see eye to eye on the "right" way to do?
P.S. To sweeten the deal...there will be an oh-so-special treat at next week's meeting for everyone who leaves a comment with their answer to the question!

The toilet paper was at the beginning of our marriage (he's an over and I'm an under) but I gave in after telling myself it's JUST toilet paper. However, he and my mom have this silent battle whenever she comes. She always changes it when she uses the restroom and he changes it back when he uses it.
ReplyDeleteAs for us, our "battle" is over the correct way to fold towels. I have a certain way and usually "ban" him from folding them because I end up going back and redoing it. Crazy, I know. I should be thankful to have a husband who is actually willing to fold laundry but it drives me insane when I see them done differently. The other battle is how the pillows are placed on the bed. He makes the bed each morning (again, I should be thankful) and I almost always go back after he leaves for work to place the pillows in the right position.

ReplyDeleteMy husband will put about ten dishes in the dishwasher and want to start it. I am a bit OCD and must fill it to its absolute capacity every time.

ReplyDeleteI believe all dirty dishes go directly into the dishwasher. My hubby is content with placing them in the sink. (not sure how he thinks they eventually end up in the dishwasher...)
Our disagreement is over the dishes too! I think my husband should be able to rinse his dishes and put them in the dishwasher. He thinks it is perfectly fine to leave them on the counter!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree on the dishes . . .in my world, all dishes belong 1) preferably directly INTO the dishwasher or 2) they need to at least need to land on the RIGHT side of the kitchen sink, out of the "valuable" work space of the left side. Unfortunately, in the real world (my house), I'm lucky to get dishes into the general area of the sink.
