Fall Family Traditions

Our MOPS meeting on October 13th will feature some wonderful traditions to do with your family.  Dictionary.com defines "tradition" as the handing down of statements, beliefs, legends, customs, information, etc., from generation to generation, especially by word of mouth or by practice.  Does your family have any fall-centered traditions?  Here are a few to consider:

1. Visit a pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin for each family member (or one big one for the whole gang!).

2. Go apple-picking, and then make some apple sauce or apple butter.
3. Go for a walk to collect leaves; use the leaves to make a fall craft.
4. Go to a football game, or watch your favorite team on television.
5. Plant bulbs with your children that will flower in the spring.
6. Rake a big pile of leaves and jump in them!
7. Go for on a "hayride".
8. Visit the library and check out some fall-themed books to read as a family.
9. Host a family or neighborhood potluck dinner.
10. Roast some marshmallows and make s'mores!

  1. If you're looking for a fun family outing for the weekend, go to Middle River Farms in the heart of the scenic Shenandoah Valley. They have more than 30 varieties of pumpkins and for $25 you can bring home all that you can fit in your wagon. It's a little bit of a drive, but a beautiful one and well worth the trip. Here's their website:
