Meeting Recap - May 24th, 2012

For our last meeting before summer break, we had lots of fun and games!  But first lets have some important end-of-the-year announcements:

• We will be having a going away party for all of our MOPS moms who will be leaving us over the summer on Saturday, June 9th. "Virginia Barbeque Night" will be the theme and we are asking you to bring an appetizer or side dish to share.  Look for more details on our MOPS Facebook page.
• Vacation Bible School at First Baptist is the week of July 9th this year. Please see their website for more details and to register.
• If you have not joined our MOPS Facebook group you are missing out!  This will be a great way to keep connected over the summer.  
• We will be having a summer prayer group that will meet once a week.  Look for more info on our Facebook page or over email.
• The MOPS Convention is in Dallas this August!  If you are interested in attending please email Lauren B.

Karen W.

Our testimony today was given by MOPS mom Karen W.  Karen told us the moving story of how God has worked in her family during some extremely difficult situations over the last 15 years. Thanks Karen for sharing with us the amazing ways God has provided in your life!

Next we played some games. Each table had to come up with one thing they all had in common that had nothing to do with motherhood.  Most unique was the Springtime Green table where each person had had some part of their body surgically removed! 

Next we played a game where each mom had to draw a picture dictated by Lauren - with their eyes closed. Points were awarded for accuracy. Congrats to the winner Corie S.!

Allison B. presented a slideshow with pictures from all of the meetings and activities over this past year. It was set to the song "Every Season" by Nichole Nordeman.

Our theme for next year was revealed and will be "Branching Out".  Our scripture verses will be John 15:4-6; "He is the vine and we are the branches. Abide in Him and we will produce great fruit. But apart from Him, we can do nothing.".

Finally, some important people were recognized, starting with our moms with summer birthdays. Then Lauren recognized our wonderful Mentoring Moms, our Table Leaders, and the Steering Committee. Finally we said a big "Thank You" to Lauren B., our MOPS Coordinator!
