Meeting Recap - January 31st, 2013

What a blessing this MOPS meeting was - a "make up" day for the meeting we missed on January 24th due to inclement weather.  Many thanks to all who made this meeting possible, especially our childcare coordinators and workers!

Our announcements:

• Congratulations to Stephanie D. and Elizabeth K. on the births of our newest little Moppettes!
• Trinity Presbyterian is offering Moms Morning Out once again, click here for more details.
• Mark your calendars for a Family MOPS Event on March 23rd at the Dunlora Clubhouse.  This will be a potluck event!
• MOPS International will be having a Leadership Training Weekend at First Baptist Church in Charlottesville on May 3rd and 4th.  This is an awesome opportunity for our MOPS group!  Mark your calendars now and watch for more details to come!
• The MOPS Convention will be in Kansas City, Missouri on October 17th - 19th.  The cost is $199 plus hotel and plane tickets.  If you are interested in attending please see Lauren.
• Monticello is offering a "Toddler Time" on Friday mornings in February. Click here for more information.
• For our next meeting on February 14th we will be doing a Valentine's Day paper craft.  If you have any scrapbooking supplies (paper, scissors, craft punches) that we could borrow please bring them the morning of the meeting.  Be sure to label them with your name.
• The Yellow Canaries table is hosting Mom's Night Out for February!  We will be going bowling at Kegler Lanes in Charlottesville on February 27th. The cost is $17 dollars per person and includes shoes.  Please bring $8.50 to the 2/14 MOPS meeting and see Karen L. if you plan on attending.
• Love to craft? There is a Crafting Retreat on April 12-14th.  For $80 you can spend a weekend quilting, scrapbooking, or sewing in peace and quiet.  This includes food too!  See Karen L. for details.
• First Baptist Church is hosting "Sweet Mondays" at various homes throughout our area.  This is a time of "sweet" fellowship at the homes of some FBC church members. Click here for more details.
• If you had arranged to pay MOPS dues in the Fall and Spring, the Spring dues are due now!  See Elizabeth K. for questions.
• First Baptist Church is offering a Women's Bible Study on Sunday evening from 5-6:30pm and its not too late to join! They will be studying "Seeking Him" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss.  Click here for more details.
• Our March Mom's Night Out will be a "Gold Party" where you can bring old/unwanted gold, silver, or platinum jewelry or other items and receive cash in exchange!  The host incentive money will be donated to a worthy cause(s).  See Lauren for more details.
• Just a reminder: unlike in year's past our husbands are not invited to our Valentine's Day MOPS meeting.  So take them out to dinner that night as I'm sure they will be heartbroken!

Wendy Frady

Our speaker for this meeting was our very own Wendy Frady.  Wendy is a former crime scene investigator and pediatric nurse.  She now is also mother to an adorable son!  Wendy shared with us her amazing testimony of how God brought her through some extremely difficult times during high school and college, and how she finally learned to slow down and stop running.  Wendy had been praying for 17 years to be able to share her testimony, and what a privilege and blessing it was to be the first to hear it.  Thanks so much to Wendy for sharing with us.
