Meeting Recap - December 12, 2013

Today's meeting began with a delicious Christmas breakfast provided by the Purple and Orange tables.

First, several announcements were made:

- We are providing dinner for the Young Lives Christmas party on Monday, 12/16 at City Church (formerly CFA). Please contact your table leader for information on which course your table is providing. Food can be dropped off at City Church on Rio Road anytime between 5-6pm. Lori Cramer, the Young Lives coordinator, has graciously announced that anyone that would like to stay for the party is welcome to. If you plan to do that, please note that childcare is not available.

- The annual Hope Chest clothing and toy giveaway will take place at Venable Elementary School on Saturday, 12/22 from 9am until Noon. The event is open to the public but specifically to benefit low income and refugee families this holiday season. Donations of gently used toys, clothing and household items are being accepted at Hope Community Center (341 11th Street NW)from 8am-7pm Mon-Sat and 3pm-7pm on Sundays. There is also a need for volunteers to help with collections, organization and running the event. This is a great family service project. Please contact Marianne Tolley by email or through the MOPS Facebook page for more information.

- Our newest MOPPET, Luke Bradford Galie, was born Thursday, November 21st, and made his first MOPS appearance at today's meeting! Many congratulations to Kate and Shane and big sister Grace!

We devoted today's meeting to remembering our friend and fellow MOPS mama, Mundy Richards. Mundy went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 8th. A beloved daughter, mom, and friend, she will be greatly missed, even as we are joyful that she is now with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Through several speakers, stories, and songs, we laughed and cried together as we celebrated the beautiful life she lived.

We ended the meeting with our annual Christmas ornament exchange.

We hope you have a wonderful Christmas, celebrating and cherishing the time with family and friends. Our next meeting is January 9th.
